Singer/Songwriter Shelley Morningsong Featured in National Indian Day Celebration at Cliff Castle Casino
In celebration of National Indian Day, Cliff Castle Casino will be sponsoring a benefit concert Friday, September 25, from 7pm-9pm, featuring Native American Music Awards “debut artist of the year,” Shelley Morningsong at Stargazer Pavilion. The event will also showcase Native American dancers from various tribes and other entertainment.
Don Decker, a musician local to the Camp Verde area, will be the opening act. He is a flutist and guitarist and will perform four or five songs, some his originals.
A donation of $5 is suggested at the gate, which will go directly to NARBHA (Northern Arizona Regional Behavioral Health Authority).
NARBHA’s outreach program, The Northern Arizona Native American Suicide Prevention and Awareness Coalition, has played a vital role in addressing problems within Native American communities.
NARBHA will hold their annual “MBrace Life Summit” at Cliff Castle Casino’s Lodge, September 25-27.
The Coalition conference seeks to establish common ground and encourages interaction, constructive discussion and exchange of ideas among youth, elders, community leaders, practitioners and professionals in developing and implementing strategies that are most likely to succeed in Tribal communities.
