Stresses Slip Away in Sedona

For centuries Sedona has been known as a place of renewal.  It is one of the most sacred healing spots on earth, with a long Native American tradition of ceremony and vision quests.

Just by coming to Sedona, one leaves the stresses of the world behind.  There are no long commutes, no tall buildings, no loud noises, no air or light pollution. And above all, there is no need to rush. Sitting amidst the fairytale rocks is grounding and relaxing, whether one is conversing with loved ones, observing nature, reading, writing, sketching, meditating or enjoying a leisurely hike, bike ride or tour.  Cares just slip away.

Night owls can lose themselves in Sedona’s limpid night sky where the stars are so brilliant it’s possible to walk by the light of the Milky Way or muse about the nature of the universe while watching a heavenly light show.  Time seems to stop.

For those wanting to optimize the body’s energy flows and sense of well being, Sedona is home to dozens of professionals in the healing and bodywork arts, including acupuncturists, herbalists, chiropractors; masseuses and energy healers who use ancient and modern techniques for bringing the body into balance. Massage therapists, licensed by the State of Arizona, have a remarkable repertoire of therapeutic modalities – from salt scrubs and flower wraps to hot-stone massage. Aestheticians can pamper clients with manicures, pedicures and other services.

Perhaps there is no better way to rejuvenate than to go to one of Sedona’s luxurious spas. Some are destinations in themselves, offering exclusive retreats to refresh the body, mind and spirit. In 2006 the 24,000-square-foot Mii Amo spa at Enchantment Resort was voted the #1 destination spa in North America by the readers of Travel and Leisure magazine. In January 2007 Deepak Chopra rented the entire Sedona Rouge Hotel and Spa for one of his nationally acclaimed Synchronicity workshops.  Both spas have luxurious spa accommodations and offer many treatment options.

Most of Sedona’s fine resorts also feature spa amenities to enhance their guests’ enjoyment. Imagine a massage under an outside ramada at the Briar Patch Inn or Los Abrigados Resort where you can hear gurgling Oak Creek and the area’s many birds. Each resort in Sedona has its own signature menu of refreshing services. Staff therapists can even create individualized replenishing facials and full-body treatments, using high-quality products from around the world.

Sedona’s free-standing spas provide a perfect getaway for an hour or two, a morning, or a day of total pampering and relaxation. At Sedona’s New Day Spa there are nearly three dozen different body treatments, massages and facials as well as other services – from waxing and tinting to rainbow light treatments and gemstone readings. There is a separate spa for men.

At the Sedona Racquet Club, spa guests can use all the club amenities for the day before or after their treatments. The racquet club is a fully equipped fitness, tennis and swimming facility.  It has scheduled classes throughout the day, including yoga, pilates, spinning, aquacise, jazzercise and step aerobics.

Finally, there are specialty spas such as Authentic Ayurvedia Holistic Health Care in Sedona, which offers ancient rejuvenation techniques. Shiro Dhara, for example, is the steady flow of warm oil unto the forehead to stimulate the pituitary gland. This awakens the body’s intuition and mental clarity and relieves stress, anxiety and depression through the release of the body’s natural hormones.

Whether you are a connoisseur of spa services or want to try a spa experience for the first time, you will be pampered, refreshed and energized in Sedona. Caring professionals  go the extra mile to assure your comfort and wellbeing.

Sedona also offers many spiritual options for renewal, such as meditation circles, psychic counseling, astrological readings and yoga classes.  One of the most fortifying experiences is to visit Sedona’s sacred structures, such as the Chapel of the Holy Rocks, labyrinths and the Amitabha Stupa.
