Oct. 1st Grape Stomp 5k Pairs Nicely with Painted Barrel Artist Day in Old Town

1st, 2011 The Great Arizona Grape Stomp 5K
series hits the Verde Valley on October 1st. This statewide series is a
fun way to tour across Arizona enjoying the fresh air and wine country
landscape. Participants receive a Grape Stomp T-shirt, a goody bag, and a logo
wine glass good for specials deals on wine tasting after the 5K.
The Grape Stomp 5K entry fee is $35. Proceeds benefit the Arizona Wine Growers
Association, which strives to advance the sustainable growth and production of
authentic Arizona-grown wines. Race day check-in is from 6:00 - 7:30 a.m. at
Crema Cafe in Old Town: 917 N. Main St., Cottonwood, AZ 86326. 928-649-5785.
But check-in early on Friday, September 30, 2011 from 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at
Crema Café. The first 60 race check-ins
will score some amazing prizes. Meet the
locals, fellow racers and Grape Stomp volunteers. Enjoy live music, food and drink specials and
a pasta bar in the courtyard. The first 60 racers to pick-up their race packets
between 5-8pm will receive the following:
1-10 -- a free wine-tasting certificate and t-shirt from Pillsbury Wine Co.
11-20 -- a free wine-tasting
certificate from Pillsbury Wine Co. and a cookbook from The Annabel Inn.
21-30 -- a free wine-tasting
certificate from The Wine Cellar and a cookbook from the Annabel Inn
31-40 -- a free wine-tasting
certificate from The Wine Cellar and a Dionysian Wines t-shirt
41 -60 -- 2 tickets to Out of
Africa Wildlife Park
Grape Stomp race teams and volunteers will be on hand for the Friday night
festivities.
After the race on Saturday, wander Old Town Cottonwood and see the Verde Valley
Wine Trail Painted Barrel Artists from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. They commissioned
artists to paint wine barrels supplied by local wineries. The results are one
of kind art pieces displayed along the wine trail. More than 10 are in Old Town. Visit these unique wine barrels and meet the
individual artists who created them. Collect one of their artist cards at each
stop. After visiting anywhere from 5 -10 sites, enter yourself to win an
amazing weekend getaway that includes a true Taste of Historic Old Town -- a
one-night's stay at The Annabel Inn, performance tickets to Old Town Center for
the Arts, local wines from the Wine Cellar and Pillsbury Wine Co., olive oil
from Verde Valley Olive Oil Traders, gift certificates from Rendezvous and
Crema Cafe, a craft starter kit from Art Glitter and many more treats from Old
Town.
