QUAIL COUNTRY
QUILTERS is
a non-profit organization 501 (c) (3) that uses the admission monies for
educational programs for our members as well as for fabrics for quilts,
which are donated to the community.
They donate to DPS, VFW, Women’s Shelter, Babies at Risk, House
of Ruth,, and The Old Town Mission.
Large quilts are made and donated to charitable organizations to
auction or raffle to raise funds for themselves.
One of our favorites is the Meals on Wheels.
Each year they work with 4th and 5th grades
at Tavasci School teaching them to quilt.
Quail Country Quilters have been working for two years on
their upcoming Quilt Show "A Covey of Quilts II".
The show features the best efforts of the more than 100
member Guild. Quilt lovers will be able to view approximately 250 quilts
ranging in size from wall quilts, to bed quilts and including art quilts
and wearable quilted clothing. The quilts on display will encompass
traditional designs, hand quilting, hand piecing, machine quilting, and
applique' and more non-traditional art quilts.
This year there will be quilting demonstrations, door prizes
and Vendors who specialize in those items that quilt lovers -love.
In conjunction with the Quilt Show there will be a Boutique
loaded with a variety of handcrafted items made by Guild members. This
show and Boutique only occur every other year so that the quilters
involved have time to make it a very special event. One special feature
that has been in process for quite a while is our gorgeous raffle quilt,
"Sunset Silhouettes". This quilt measures 94" X 106"
and has been appraised at $1500.00. The raffle will occur at the close
of Saturday's show and the winner need not be present to win.
Quail Country Quilters is comprised of quilters from every
community in the Verde Valley. They meet the second and fourth Thursday
of each month at the VFW Hall on Aspen Street in Cottonwood. Quilters
and ''wanna be" quilters of all skill levels are invited to attend.
