2 new contributors for the Sedona Verde Valley Tourism Council

Verde Valley, Arizona (JULY 2007) ---- Two additional communities in the Verde Valley region of north-central Arizona have signed on with the Sedona Verde Valley Tourism Council (SVVTC) as contributing members. The addition of these two communities brings to the tourism development alliance more interesting and unique communities: Effective July 01, 2007 the Jerome Chamber of Commerce and the Clarkdale Chamber of Commerce will form the Sedona Verde Valley Tourism Council together with the Sedona Chamber of Commerce, the Cottonwood Chamber of Commerce and the Camp Verde Chamber of Commerce.

The purpose of the SVVTC is to create awareness for the area, to provide informative, helpful, and accurate information about the region, its attractions, activities and services in order to increase visitation to the area.

We are looking forward to the opportunities afforded to our community by our participation in the Sedona Verde Valley Tourism Council” says Tom Pitts, President Jerome Chamber of Commerce “the productive history of this organization is what convinced us to join”.

Lisa O’Neil, board member, Clarkdale Chamber of Commerce sees their participation as an opportunity to leverage the regional concept “The enrollment of Clarkdale and Jerome will provide additional support to the efforts and initiatives of the Council and enhance the synergistic effects of the Council’s activities.”

Jennifer Wesselhoff, Executive Director of the Council and President/CEO of the Sedona Chamber welcomes the two new players: “We are delighted to have Jerome and Clarkdale on board as their participation brings us one step closer to presenting the region as one unique destination to potential visitors

SVVTC has developed a selection of promotional projects that are co-funded with the Arizona Office of Tourism’s TEAM Grant program. The “ABA/NTA Promotion Project” and the “Postcard Campaign Project” are two examples of a total of 5 ongoing projects that convinced Tom Pitts:

ABA American Bus Association and NTA National Tour Association Promotion Project:
This is a group tour business development project that researches, identifies and qualifies U.S. (motorcoach) tour operators that offer group tour product in the Sedona and Verde Valley area (and/or have potential to do so) and promotes the region to program developers and tour managers of pre-qualified (motorcoach) tour operators with the aim to increase the overall group tour product offered for the region (project begin: July 2004, ongoing)

Postcard Campaign Project:
The postcard campaign project has been and currently is targeting the meeting and convention planner and the actual meeting attendee of a conference taking place in the Greater PHX metro area during the time period July 2006 till JUN 2008. The aim is to increase visitation of the Sedona Verde Valley region from the Phoenix pre/post convention market. The tool to reach the goal of more tourism revenue from the PHX pre/post convention market is a postcard campaign (project begin: January 2006, ongoing)

For 2007/2008 the Council will launch a “Branding Project”. The objective of the Branding Project is to provide the Sedona Verde Valley Tourism Council with 1 common denominator suggesting a regional concept. In order to position the area in the Leisure Travel Market Place as 1 unique destination this branding project shall provide the area with a regional identity and provide it with its first tangible fulfillment piece that will present all 5 contributors as well as with a logo (project begin: July 2007)
