Sedona Verde Valley Tourism Council

There’s more than a “Z” in the middle of Arizona!
Come to the Verde Valley for old fashioned family fun this July 4, 2007

  • Begin the day with a Pancake Breakfast in Clarkdale’s historic park.  Clarkdale will be celebrating its 50th anniversary of incorporation.  Area kids will put on a play reliving the Town history, and Yavapai-Apache dancers will perform.  Watch the children strut their stuff  down Main Street in the wonderful Kid’s Parade.
    .
  • Enjoy a great barbeque lunch on the Verde Canyon Railroad depot patio while a band plays patriotic and sentimental favorites.  You do not have to purchase a train ticket to enjoy the patio festivities.
    .
  • The Firecracker Express departs the depot at 1:00 for a four-hour trip through tunnels, trestles and other unexpected treats.
    .
  • Head over to Cottonwood for old fashioned fun!  Music, food and games, including a watermelon seed spitting contest, precede the fireworks which begin right after dark.
    .
  • If wine is on your mind, visit one of the many Verde Valley wineries, such as Alcantara, situated on the banks of the Verde River.
    .
  • Visit Dead Horse Ranch State Park to experience a wonderful riparian ecosystem.  Fish in the lagoon, bird watch, or just take a hike!
    .
  • Right across the street from the State Park is the Blazin’ M Ranch.  Feel the West come alive in the town, and then enjoy all-you-can-eat barbecue  supper served cowboy style.  A fun-filled western stage show follows dinner.  Head out to the parking lot for a ringside seat of Cottonwood’s fabulous fireworks!
