Start your Holiday at
the Top – Jerome Lights up the Mountain on November 26th
The Jerome Chamber of Commerce and its’ members, in
conjunction with the Jerome Historical Society and The Town of Jerome and its
residents, are planning a holiday kick-off on Thanksgiving weekend with the
lighting of the Town Park and entertainment throughout the town. Eat, drink,
stay and shop on November 26th from 5 to 9pm. The town will be aglow with soft
light from hundreds of luminaria starting at 5pm. The talented students of
Mingus Union High School will be on hand to sing, provide music and perform
vignettes from their upcoming Holiday play. The schedule of events is
impressive and the best news is that Santa Claus IS coming to town.
5pm – Mingus Union High School Jazz Band performs at the Bartlett Hotel in the
middle of town. Bundle up.
6pm – Reading of The Night Before Christmas at The Bartlett Hotel. The kids
will love this.
6.30pm – Santa Claus arrives in Jerome to light the Tree and the Park. Enjoy
the MUHS Choir in The Park. The Choir members will be caroling throughout the
town. Join in the singing.
5pm to 8pm – MUHS Drama students perform vignettes in Jerome.
6:30 – After the lighting, have your photo taken with Santa in the park. The
souvenir folder will make this a great memento. There is a fee for the picture.
Jerome’s lovely shops, galleries and restaurants will be open for the
festivities, making this a perfect night to find special holiday gifts. As an
added bonus, the Jerome State Park will be decorated with lights and Ranger
Keith has arranged for a holiday 5 to 9pm discounted admission price of $2 for
adults and free for kids under 14. Many shops will be participating in the
Holiday Lights competition with the theme of “A Celebration of Holidays Past in
Jerome”.
