Fitting Golfers to a Tee: Sedona Verde Valley Golf Courses
Golfer on one of the 8 Sedona Verde Valley golf courses
“Play this course once and you'll remember it for life,” said Hospitality Tee Times of the Sedona Golf Resort in the Village of Oak Creek. “ Widely considered one of the most unforgettable golf experiences, Sedona Golf Resort offers a thrilling combination of jaw-dropping splendor of the famed Red Rocks of Sedona with exceptional challenge. Although the Gary Panks-designed (championship) course demands every shot in your bag, the best shots they say come with a camera. In every way, this is golf's version of the Kodak moment.”

The Sedona Golf  Resort is a par 71 course in the lush desert style, with long rolling fairways. The course receives a continuous four-star rating from Golf Digest. It has also been named  "Best Par 3 in the State" (Hole 10) by the Arizona Republic, and "one of the 100 most women-friendly courses in America" by Golf for Women Magazine.

The Sedona Golf Resort is one of eight spectacular golf courses located in Sedona and the Verde Valley, seven of which are open to the public. The exception is Seven Canyons.

The courses include:

Chad Seekins, Club Pro Tee's Off On #15 at Beaver Creek Golf Club

Beaver Creek Golf Club, an historic, 18-hole scenic course, was designed by Jack Snyder in 1962.  The par 71 course is located in a small valley along the banks of West Beaver Creek in Lake Montezuma. It offers 6,485 yards of play. “Once a playground of Hollywood stars, it is now open to all,” says the club. “Long par 5's with tree-lined fairways, challenging par 3's and manicured greens await both the pro and novice level golfer. Enjoy the shade and majesty of centuries old cottonwoods.” http://www.beavercreekgolf.net

.
Canyon Mesa Country Club

Canyon Mesa Country Club. Many golfers consider this public course Sedona’s best kept secret. The 9-hole, par 28 course features 1,265 yards designed by Jack Snyder. This is a Triple A-rated executive par 3 golf course that is couples friendly yet challenging enough to get the respect of a low handicap player.  Local golfers say this is a good course to practice your short game, and the value is amazing.  Many holes on the course are lined with trees, making the fairways narrow.  The undulating greens are large and fast. Creeks come into play on many holes.

.
Oak Creek Country Club: Waterfall behind the 13th green, Par 3 - 160 yards

Oak Creek Country Club. is a par 72, 18-hole championship golf course  in Sedona designed by the famous father and son team Robert Trent Jones Sr. and Robert Trent Jones Jr. It has been described as “a work of art.”  The 145-acre course includes three lakes. Water comes into play several times on both the front and back nine. According to the club, “The fairways are classic tree-lined doglegs with fairway bunkers strategically placed in the landing areas, and the greens are all slightly elevated. … The course is player friendly, allowing plenty of room for error but always with an opportunity to recover.” http://www.oakcreekcountryclub.com/

.
Pine Shadows Golf Course

Pine Shadows Golf Course is 9-hole, par 33 public executive course located in Cottonwood, Arizona. According to the club, the most distinguishing characteristic of this attractive course is the price. It costs $15 to play nine holes, and the fee includes a cart.  For five dollars more, golfer can play 18 holes. All carts are almost new, with no cart more than two years old.

.
Radisson Poco Diablo Resort

Radisson Poco Diablo Resort features a 9-hole, par 3 executive golf course on its lush 22 acres, which include green lawns, red rocks, willow trees and  water features. The course was designed by Jack Snyder and offers 777 yards of play. According to a visitor from Florida, “Despite its small size, the course is enjoyable.  The greens have slope and slant and water comes into play.” http://www.radisson.com/sedonaaz

.
Seven Canyon

Seven Canyons is a private residence golf club, surrounded by 100,000 acres of the Coconino National Forest. Tom Weiskopf crafted the 18-hole, par 70 course in the style of the great golf courses of the early 1900s. It puts a premium on exceptional shot-making with small greens, narrow landing areas, classic-style bunkering, mature trees, natural water features and constant changes in elevation. The course is very walkable and features 6,746 yards of play. http://www.sevencanyons.com/

According to Golfweek Magazine, Seven Canyons has been named one of  America’s best modern golf courses (built after 1960). Bradley S. Klein, a senior writer for Golfweek and head of the magazine’s rating panel, has described the championship course as “the IMAX of golf” and “one of the most visually overpowering courses to be found anywhere in the world.”

.
Verde Santa Fe Golf Course

Verde Santa Fe Golf Course is a challenging 18-hole, par 71 championship course in Cornville, framed by Verde Valley’s Black Hills.. It  was designed by Stanton McGaw and features 6,404 yards of play. Four lakes border the 10th and 18th holes, and a number of arroyos come into play. A visitor from Seattle, Washington, described the course as being a “ well kept, nicely laid out golf course. We enjoyed playing there … The value is terrific!” http://www.verdesantafe.com/
