Walkin’ on Main: A historic celebration of 89A
The Verde Valley will celebrate Historic 89A with "Walkin' on Main" on November 14th from 11:00AM to 5:00PM. The Old Town Cottonwood Historic District, which sits between Jerome and Sedona, will be blocked off from traffic. Under two big tents will be a juried art show, surrounded by the charming galleries, shops and local foods of Old Town Cottonwood. Live music plays throughout the day. The main stage will feature some the state’s best entertainers “Knuckleheads” and “Big Pete Pearson”. Verde Valley winemakers and vineyards will host an outdoor wine tasting on Main Street, in Cottonwood. Participating wineries and vineyards include: Alcantara Vineyards, Page Springs Cellars, Javelina Leap Winery, Jerome Winery, Pillsbury Winery, Caduceus Winery, Fraites Winery and Oak Creek Winery organized by the Verde Valley Wine Consortium.
This year the Clarkdale Chamber of Commerce has partnered with Walk ‘in on Main to create “Be Successful, Be Green”. This will be an interactive, environmental awareness area located in the Old Town Jail parking lot. The Clarksdale Chamber has partnered with Dead Horse State Park and Yavapai College Ecology Club to bring Eco-play games for the children’s area, and tours down the Riparian Jail Trail.
Camp Verde, Sedona, Cottonwood, and Jerome will all be represented with well-known artist organizations, art from two local high schools, and individual artists. Rounding out the event will be displays from local historical societies, antique and classic cars organized by the Mingus Union Hot Rod Club, and self guided historic tours of Old Town Cottonwood provided by the Cottonwood Hotel.
This event is proudly sponsored by: Edward Jones, Clarkdale/Verde Kawinis, North American Wastes, Clarkdale Chamber, Cottonwood Chamber and the Old Town Association.
