The Gold King Mine - just one mile north of Jerome – is a historic Gold King Mine from the 1890ies. Today, it is a museum where visitors watch demonstrations of antique mining equipment.
The owner Don Robertson believes in his mission to save old machinery. You will hear a whistle that is from a 30-horsepower, gas and kerosene saw mill and the noise that sounds like cannon shots is coming from a restored 10-thousand cubic-inch engine that was once a power plant.
All the stuff Don collected is unbelievable – and what is even more unbelievable is that it still works!
You may climb on things and you are welcome to touch it!
